If you’re looking for the best weightlifting shoes for women, my personal pick is Vivobarefoot. I wear mine for almost every strength-training workout because they’re lightweight, flat, breathable and give the closest feeling to lifting barefoot without actually being barefoot. The one downside? I personally wouldn’t choose them for running.
I was thinking to write a list of the best weight lifting shoes for women, based on all the kinds I’ve tried. But I have to be honest, there’s only one shoe I would actually recommend right now, and it’s the one I am wearing every time I strength train. No I’m not sponsored, but I believe in recommending things I actually love and use, and I’m kind of stuck on this one.
Introducing…Vivobarefoot
Now they have a few different kinds, I actually use the Primus Lite Knit Womens, which isn’t part of their strength collection but its more breathable. I’ve been wearing mine approximately four days a week for strength training, including squats, deadlifts and even upper-body days.”

Why I LOVE these shoes.
When I started working out I was also training at home, in barefeet or socks, which may be controversial, I don’t know. But when I started going to the gym, I was 1000% going to be wearing shoes. I didn’t like how my sneakers, or running shoes, or air forces, felt when I was training. They either had weird arch support that made me feel off-balanced, or felt super chunky and heavy. And almost ALL of them were not very breathable, and as gross as it is, my feet came out of those shoes at the end of a workout smelling bad!
The vivo barefoot shoe fixed literally all these problems for me. It allows you to feel like you’re hardly wearing shoes, they’re very lightweight and breathable. They are also flat on the bottom, so balance is natural, and for squats and lower body days I find it makes my workouts more effective.
Funny enough I was first introduced to this brand by a guy at my gym who was saying they were a game changer for his weight lifting.
What I don’t love
The cons of this shoe, is that it’s not great for running. Due to the fact is has no support, I personally find it harder on my knees and joints. Hiking, biking, all those things are great with the barefoot shoes, but just running specifically is tough. If you’re doing a hybrid workout with running and weights, you might need a more multi-purpose training shoe.
